TONIGHT, October 17th @ The Squealing Pig = Balearia

The next installment of Balearia is tonight at the Squealing Pig, 134 Smith Street in Scenic Mission Hill.
I'm spinning with Lucy Luxxx of garagepunk.com fame. She's my co-resident in this night. We'll be playing psychrock, 60's Garage, Disco, Punk, Electro, House... you name it really. It's a really fun night and the cuties are always out in full force ta boot.
The Squealing Pig is an awesome local bar that really fits the nuances of the music we play. The staff is great and the beer selection is off the hook. Lots of good beer from far away places. Their food is also some of the best bar food you'll chew on in Boston. It's Irish food done oh so right. Not your usual fare whatsoever.

Lykke Li saves the DAY!!

This Swedish damsel is in anything but distress. The first track of hers that I heard was DanceDanceDance. This song fuses the unlikely blend of early Bjorky melodic sensibilities, some 60's pop tinges and a Lou Reed saxophone solo into a sound that is completely her own. She makes no bones about being in your face melodic with her structuring and choruses while still having a serious DIY feel all along through the tune. Lykke Li is a remixer's dream and this Loving Hand (Mark Ronson) remix I'm posting below. Lykke Li is a breath of fresh air in the oh so WAY too serious world of dance music today. Bring that beat back Lykke!

OH, also... she's performing at the Paradise in Boston on the 23rd of October. Yesh Yesh Ya'll... That be next Wednesday. See YOU there mon frere.
